Private First Class Weaver was a member of Company B, 1st Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy near the Chosin Reservoir, North Korea on 30 November 1950 and was killed by the Chinese while trying to escape later that day. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
Weaver was awarded the Purple Heart, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
