Marvin Edwin Brown Marvin Edwin Brown was born on 15 April 1915 in Yukon, OK. He is the son of Charles Edwin Brown and Luetta Vernal Stingley. He has a sister named Hazel Neoma Brown Steele. Marvin enlisted in the U. S. Army on 29 May 1941 at Oklahoma City, OK, with his cousin Harry Maurice "Bud" Vickers. Maurice was killed in 1943 at the Army base in Louisiana. Marvin served in the Army as a Staff Sergeant in the South Pacific during World War II. He served his time and was honorably discharged on 17 December 1945 in Fort Lewis, WA. Bronze Star Medal He married Mildred Jean Rankin on 2 September 1942 in Vancouver, WA. They had three children, all born in Portland, OR: Luetta Irene, John Marvin and Patrick Lee Brown. Marvin had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren Staff Sergeant Marvin Edwin Brown died in his home at Rockaway Beach, OR, on 29 March 1992. He was cremated and his ashes scattered in the forest near the North Fork of the Clackamas River in Oregon, a favored family camping area in which he had fond memories. The family purchased a memorial brick at Dornbecher's Children's Hospital to honor his name. |
