Sergeant White was a member of Company H, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy near Unsan, North Korea on 2 November 1950. He was presumed dead on 31 December 1953.
His remains were recovered on 12 April 2007 and were identified on 18 June 2008. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
Sergeant White was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
