Gerald Jackson Patton

Gerald Jackson Patton was born on 15 November 1921 in Sapulpa, OK, to Anita Frances Dorney and Emmett Lyle Patton. He attended the University of Oklahoma and the U.S. Naval Academy, Class of 1945.
He served in the Pacific during World War II aboard the USS Miller (DD-535). His service medals include: Legion of Merit, Navy Unit Commendation, Combat Action Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with Battle Stars, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He retired from active duty in 1968 as a Captain.
In retirement, he enjoyed a civilian career with Sperry Univac and, later, with Bechtel Corporation.
Patton received a Master's Degree from Lowell Institute of Technology and served on the staff of the Naval War College. He was also a graduate of the Harvard University Advanced Management Program.
Gerald "Jerry" Jackson Patton, 89, passed away on 11 October 2011, in Houston, TX.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Eleanor Marie (Sommer). He is survived by his three children: Diana Hix (Larry) of Spring, TX; Eileen Howard (Dan) of Monument, CO; and Timothy Patton (Kathy Jo) of Littleton, CO; two grandchildren, David Saha of Houston, Christina Saha Pothos (Harry) of Houston; and one great-granddaughter, Emma Saha of Houston.
