John Joseph Monaghan, Jr.

Second Lieutenant, U.S. Army

John Joseph Monaghan, Jr. was born on 10 October 1947. He was a graduate of Field Artillery OCS Class 34B-67 at Fort Sill, OK, and upon completion was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant of Field Artillery in the U.S. Army.

On 25 May 1968, Second Lieutenant John Joseph Monaghan, Jr. was serving with B Battery, 7th Battalion, 13th Artillery, 41st Artillery Group, I Field Force, in Binh Dinh Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, 2LT Monaghan was killed in action when he sustained wounds from artillery, rocket or mortar fire. His body was recovered.
