Biography:

Command Sergeant Major Dewayne Blackmon was born in Pensacola, FL, and enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1990. He has served with the 82nd Airborne Division, 10th Mountain Division, US Army Garrison (Ft Jackson), and US Army Cadet Command.

His duty and leadership positions have included Radio telephone operator, Senior Scout, Rifleman, Team leader, Squad leader, Weapons Squad Leader, Operations Sergeant, Drill Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, Senior Military Instructor (Army ROTC), and Command Sergeant Major. His current assignment is Battalion Sergeant Major of 4th Battalion, 3d US Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, VA.

Now, his daughter, PFC Denae Burkes, serves together with her father in the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, VA.
