Harrison Perry McIntire
Captain, U.S. Navy
Harrison Perry McIntire was born in 1911.
While Harrison Perry McIntire was a Midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, he met Anita Marie Allio, a senior at Annapolis High School. Anita went on to attend and graduate from Hood College in Frederick, MD, in 1936. Perry graduated from the Naval Academy in 1935 and the two were married in Plymouth, ME, in 1937.
During the next thirty years Perry served his country and participated in World War II and the Korean War. He served on eleven ships during his thirty-year career in the Navy.
Anita was right there with him, when she could be, and when she couldn't, she was waiting at home raising their four daughters.
Anita went back to school in 1960 and attended San Francisco State College, receiving her California teaching credentials in 1961. Perry retired from the Navy that year and the family moved to Fremont, CA, where Perry and Anita both taught for the Fremont Unified School District for thirteen years.
Following their retirement from teaching, they moved to Honolulu, HI. With Honolulu as their home base, they traveled the world together until Perry's death in 1994.
