George Edward McDonald, Jr., was born on 6 July 1949.

On 9 April 1968, Private First Class George Edward McDonald, Jr., was serving with 359th Transportation Company, 240th Quartermaster Battalion, 58th Field Depot, Army Support Command (Qui Nhon), 1st Logistical Command, in Binh Dinh Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, PFC McDonald was killed in action after sustaining wounds from small arms fire. His body was recovered.
