Craig Allan McDaniel was born on 11 July 1946.

On 29 September 1967, Sergeant Craig Allan McDaniel was serving with C Company, 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry, 101st Airborne Division, in Quang Tin Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, SGT McDaniel was killed in action after sustaining wounds from small arms fire. His body was recovered.

McDaniel received a posthumous promotion to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
