John Vern McCormick

John Vern McCormick was born on 12 December 1939.

On 1 December 1965, Lieutenant (Junior Grade) John Vern McCormick was serving as a pilot with VA-144, CVW-5, USS Ticonderoga, Task Force 77, 7th Fleet, off the shore of South Vietnam.

On that day, LTJG McCormick was killed in the crash (due to hostile action) of the fixed wing aircraft he was flying. His body was not recovered and returned to U.S. soil until 6 April 1988. It was identified on 18 July 1988. He received a posthumous promotion to Lieutenant.
