Biography:

Wallace Kenji Matayoshi

Specialist Four, U.S. Army

Wallace Kenji Matayoshi was born on 20 June 1942 in Hilo, HI. Matayoshi was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Duane Matayoshi. He was a 1960 graduate of Hilo High School. After entering the U.S. Army, he was initially stationed at Schofield Barracks, HI, and was later shipped to South Vietnam.

On 30 January 1966, Specialist Four Wallace Kenji Matayoshi was serving with B Company, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in South Vietnam.

On that date, SP4 Matayoshi died after sustaining wounds from an explosive device. His body was recovered.
