Larry Joe Malatesta was born on 22 April 1949.

On 25 July 1970, Specialist Four Larry Joe Malatesta was serving with H Troop, 17th Cavalry, 198th Infantry Brigade, Americal Division, in Quang Tin Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, SP4 Malatesta sustained wounds from an explosive device. He died of those wounds on 1 August 1970. His body was recovered.
