Edmund Lambert MacNeil was born on 16 November 1944.

On 2 May 1971, Sergeant Edmund Lambert MacNeil was serving with B Company, 84th Engineer Battalion, 18th Engineer Brigade, in Quang Nam Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, SGT MacNeil was killed in action after sustaining wounds from an explosive device. His body was recovered. MacNeil received a posthumous promotion to Staff Sergeant.
