Michael Joseph Macarell was born on 14 June 1946.

On 13 November 1966, Private First Class Michael Joseph Macarell was serving with 3rd Platoon, C Company, 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry, 196th Infantry Brigade, in South Vietnam.

On that day, PFC Macarell was killed in action after sustaining wounds from small arms fire. His body was recovered.
