Ray Edward Knoll Ray Edward Knoll was born on 30 January 1948. On 1 June 1969, Sergeant Ray Edward Knoll was serving with C Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division, in Binh Duong Province, South Vietnam. On that day, SGT Knoll was killed in action; detail of the casualty was not provided. His body was recovered. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
