Biography:

William George "Billy Jo" Keyes

Specialist Four, U.S. Army

William George Keyes was born on 24 June 1947 in Midland, MI. He was the only son of William M. and Donna P. Keyes. He graduated from Midland High School in 1965. He was active in sports and was an avid bowler. He attended Delta College studying Accounting before being drafted. During summer vacation, while in college, he worked as a permit Ironworker out of Local 25.

On 24 April 1968, Specialist Four William George Keyes was serving with C Company, 1st Battalion, 16th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division, in Binh Duong Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, SP4 Keyes was killed in action when he sustained wounds from small arms fire. His body was recovered.
