Dennis Lee Keyer was born on 31 July 1944.

On 1 May 1966, Hospital Corpsman Third Class Dennis Lee Keyer was serving with Headquarters & Service Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Amphibious Force, in Quang Nam Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, HM3 Keyer was killed in action when he sustained multiple fragmentation wounds. His body was recovered.
