Charles Franklin Kennedy was born on 18 May 1934.

On 7 March 1967, Sergeant Charles F. Kennedy was serving with D Company, 4th Battalion, 503rd Infantry, 173rd Airborne Brigade, in Tay Ninh Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, SGT Kennedy was killed in action when he sustained wounds from small arms fire. His body was recovered.
