Biography:

First Lieutenant Mattison was a member of Company A, 439th Engineer Construction Battalion, U.S. Army. He developed poliomyelitis and died enroute from Sokcha-ri to the 8209th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital on 5 January 1953.

Mattison was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
