Cary DeVall Langhorne Commander, U.S. Navy Medal of Honor Recipient Occupation of Veracruz Commander Cary DeVall Langhorne (14 May 1873 - 25 April 1948) was a U.S. Navy officer and surgeon who received the U.S. military's highest award for valor, the Medal of Honor, for his heroic actions during the Occupation of Veracruz. Cary DeVall Langhorne was born on 14 May 1873 in Lynchburg, VA. Medal of Honor Rank and organization: Surgeon, U.S. Navy Citation: For extraordinary heroism in battle, engagement of Vera Cruz, 22 April 1914. Surg. Langhorne carried a wounded man from the front of the Naval Academy while under heavy fire. Death and Burial Commander Cary DeVall Langhorne died on 25 April 1948. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA, in Section 11, Grave 868. |
