Charles Francis Bishop Commander, U.S. Navy Medal of Honor Recipient Occupation of Veracruz Commander Charles Francis Bishop (2 August 1888 - 1 February 1954) was a U.S. Navy sailor who received the U.S. military's highest award for valor, the Medal of Honor, for his heroic actions during the Occupation of Veracruz. Medal of Honor Rank and organization: Quartermaster Second Class, U.S. Navy Citation: On board the USS Florida for extraordinary heroism in the line of his profession during the seizure of Veracruz, Mexico, 21 April 1914. Death and Burial Commander Charles Francis Bishop died on 1 February 1954. He is buried at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, CA, in Section O, Site 4562. |
