Ulysses G. Buzzard Corporal, U.S. Army Medal of Honor Recipient Spanish-American War Corporal Ulysses G. Buzzard (31 January 1865 - 2 August 1939) was a U.S. Army soldier who received the U.S. military's highest award for valor, the Medal of Honor, for his heroic actions during the Spanish-American War. Ulysses G. Buzzard was born 31 January 1865 in Armstrong, PA, and after entering the Army, he was sent to fight with Company C, 17th U.S. Infantry in the Spanish-American War. Medal of Honor Rank and organization: Corporal, U.S. Army, Company C, 17th U.S. Infantry Place and date: El Caney, Cuba, 1 July 1898 Citation: Gallantly assisted in the rescue of the wounded from in front of the lines and under heavy fire from the enemy. Death and Burial Corporal Ulysses G. Buzzard died on 2 August 1939 at age 74. He is buried at San Nicolas Cemetery in Cebu City, the Philippines. |
