Gunner on B-24J (#42-41189) - took off, with a crew of 11 and other B-24's, from Momote Airfield (APO 324), Los Negros Island, Admiralty Islands, Papua New Guinea on a strike mission over Truk lagoon. They were hit by enemy ground anti-aircraft fire and are believed to have crashed into the sea.
