Lieutenant Farrar, United States Navy Reserve, served on the USS Escolar (SS-294) while serving in the South Pacific in World War II. It is believed the submarine hit a mine in the Tsushima Strait in the Yellow Sea. Robert is officially listed as missing in action or buried at sea November 14, 1945, after being missing for a considerable length of time. His name is honored on the “Tablets of the Missing” at Manila American Cemetery, Philippines. |
