Sylvester Carroll Bell Jr.
Petty Officer Third Class, United States Navy
United States Navy petty officer third class who served on board USS Sims (DD-409) during World War II. While escorting the oiler USS Neosha during the Battle of Coral Sea, both ships were attacked by Japanese dive bombers. The Sims defended herself as best she could, but ultimately sank.
