Leslie R. Perry On 15 April 1945, Technician Fifth Grade Leslie R. Perry was serving with with Headquarters and Service Troop, 94th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron, 4th Armored Division, Third U.S. Army. On that day, TEC 5 Perry’s unit was in action against German forces in Germany after crossing the Saale River. TEC 5 Perry’s courageous actions and extraordinary heroism that day earned him, at the cost of his life, the U.S. Army's second highest award for valor, the Distinguished Service Cross. Medals and Awards Distinguished Service Cross Distinguished Service Cross Citation (Synopsis) Technician Fifth Grade Leslie R. Perry (ASN: 32587912), United States Army, was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with Headquarters and Service Troop, 94th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron, 4th Armored Division, in action against enemy forces on 15 April 1945. Technician Fifth Grade Perry's intrepid actions, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty at the cost of his life, exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself, the 4th Armored Division, and the United States Army.
