On 10 February 1967, Hospitalman Larry Duane Judkins was serving with Headquarters & Service Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division, III Marine Amphibious Force, in Quang Nam Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, HN Judkins was killed in action when he sustained wounds from friendly fire. His body was recovered.
