Robert Lee Jennings was born on 25 May 1948.

On 4 June 1969, Sergeant Robert Lee Jennings was serving with A Battery, 2nd Battalion, 320th Artillery, 101st Airborne Division, in Quang Tin Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, SGT Jennings died when the helicopter in which he was a passenger crashed due to hostile action. His body was recovered.
