Richard Foltin Huebner

Commander, U.S. Navy

Richard Foltin Huebner was born on 18 February 1936 in Passaic, NJ. He was the son of William and Irma Huebner.

The day after graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy with the Class of 1959, Dick married Elizabeth "Betty" Anne McGreevey, his wife of 52 years. During Dick's active duty career they relocated 12 times. He served on seven ships (one DD and six diesel submarines) including command of the USS Cutlass (SS-478), one Bathyscaph and three staffs. He retired from the Navy in 1981.

In retirement, Dick attended the University of Hawaii's School of Tropical Agriculture and Animal Science. He then relocated to Magnolia, a small farm outside the town of Gordonsville, VA. Most recently, Dick was a resident of Charlottesville, VA.

Commander Richard "Dick" Foltin Huebner, age 75, departed this life on Tuesday, 20 December 2011, at home in Charlottesville, surrounded by his family. He is inurned at the U.S. Naval Academy Columbarium in Annapolis.

In addition to his wife, Betty, Dick is survived by three children, son Richard Huebner of Charlottesville, VA, and his wife, Janice; son John Huebner of Denver, CO, and his wife, Kim; daughter, Tara Humphrey of Richmond, VA, and her husband, Kevin; and six grandchildren, Peri Huebner, Jack Huebner, Madison Montoya, Xavier Montoya, Kaelee Humphrey and Bryce Humphrey.
