Sergeant Brown was a member of Battery C, 159th Field Artillery Battalion, 25th Infantry Division. He died of other causes on 14 May 1952 at Company C, 1st Marine Medical Battalion near Songchon, South Korea.

Brown was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
