Private Battle was a member of Battery D, 15th Anti-Aircraft Artillery (Automatic Weapons) Battalion, 7th Infantry Division. He suffered epidemic hemorrhagic fever, was taken to the 721st Evacuation Hospital in South Korea and died on 16 November 1951.

Battle was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
