|
Electrician's Mate Third Class Smith was a crew member of the destroyer USS Roan (DD-853). He was killed when his ship collided with the destroyer USS Brownson (DD-868) during night exercises at sea about 400 miles off North Carolina on 8 November 1950. Smith was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. |
