Clarence Leo Freitas

Clarence Leo Freitas was born in Rio Vista, CA on 22 May 1887. He was the son of Joseph and Catherine Freitas who immigrated to the United States from Portugal in 1875, according to Joseph on the 1910 census. He had four siblings. Clarence served with the 134th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division, and was killed in action in Moselle, Lorraine, France and is buried at the Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial.
According to Major General Butler Miltonberger [Honoree Record ID 307064] who, as a Colonel was the former Commanding Officer of the 134th Infantry Regiment, and Major James Huston, Assistant Professor of History, Persue University, Clarence died on the day that became known as Blue Monday on Red Hill on 13 November 1944 in Lorraine, France.
