Private First Class Lowe was a member of Company B, 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. Initially, he was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on 25 July 1950. Later, it was determined that he had been Killed in Action on that date.

Lowe was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
