Russell Thomas Ford was born on 22 January 1945.

On 12 May 1967, Private First Class Russell Thomas Ford was serving with C Company, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division, in Quang Ngai Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, PFC Ford was killed in action when he sustained wounds from small arms fire. His body was recovered.
