Robert Paul Foley was born on 2 February 1949.

On 2 February 1968, Private First Class Robert Paul Foley was serving with M Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division, in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, his 19th birthday, PFC Foley was killed in action when he sustained wounds from small arms fire. His body was recovered.
