Ernest Alexander "Ernie" Flynn

Ernest Alexander Flynn was born on 1 October 1943, in Radford, VA, the son of the late Charles Ernest and Thelma (Alexander) Flynn.
He was appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy by his congressman and graduated in the Class of 1965. He served over five years active duty, including tours on the destroyer USS Borie, the survey ship USS Littlehales, and on Coastal Division Twelve Detachment (Swift Boats) in Vietnam, where he earned the Bronze Star Medal with Combat "Valor" Device. He retired with 21 years of active and reserve duty with the U.S. Navy.
Flynn was a graduate of UVA Law School, class of 1973, and was a licensed member of the Virginia State Bar. After graduation, he worked for Southern Title and most recently was owner/manager of Republic Title Services. He was a member of Blue Ridge Mountains Rotary Club.
Ernest Alexander "Ernie" Flynn, 65, died Monday, 21 September 2009, at his home in Charlottesville, VA.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Wendy R. W. Flynn; their three children, Ashley Flynn Bartram and her husband John, Heather Flynn and her husband Mark Vagnetti, and Brooks Flynn and his wife Alexandra; and three grandchildren, Gaines, Charlie and Reid.
