Vincent Jerome Rogers, Jr.
Staff Sergeant, United States Army Air Forces
In 1944, while on a combat mission, was killed when his B-24J bomber crashed in shallow water shortly after takeoff from Tarawa Atoll, Gilbert Islands. Body was buried in a mass grave on the island and not identified until 2017.
